- TRAVEL INFORMATION -    

 

Colona II has a departure schedule and guests are welcome as join - ins. Alternatively you might want to consider taking a private charter. In this case a special itinerary will be tailor - made to your personal interests.

TRANSFER TO THE YACHT FROM PHUKET

You will be picked up from your hotel at 08:00am.We can, however, meet you at the airport as well, if you just arrive. The transfer takes 4-5 hrs. by air-con. mini van . The route is scenic and there stops for refreshment and lunch.

At Ranong Immigration you are checked out of Thailand and a longtail boat will take you across the river to Kawtoung, Myanmar ( Burma ).

In Kawtoung our local agent , Myanmar Tours & Travel, will handle all paper work. There are NO complicated visa procedures. You are granted visa on arrival and they will take care of the cruising permit as well.

Depending on your itinerary, Colona II will normally leave Kawtoung early morning or early afternoon for the first anchorage of the cruise.

TRANSFER TO THE YACHT COMING FROM YANGON

Our agent will meet you at Kawtoung airport and take you directly to the yacht.

VISA AND CRUISING PERMIT

The government require each passenger to pay for visa and cruising permit. We will collect US$ 150 onboard. This has to be cash with bills in good shape, without damage. Coming from Yangon you already have Visa and the amount for visa will be deducted. You will pay US$ 130.

WEATHER

In the dry season, November to April, we have the North east Monsoon. temperature around 30 degree Celsius air, 27-28 degrees in the water. A refreshing sea breeze giving good sailing conditions. no violent storms, sea slight and never uncomfortable.

CLOTHING AND SUN PROTECTION

you do not need to bring warm clothing . Loose fitting cotton shirts and trousers are ideal. For forays ashore walking sandals or light hiking boots are ideal. A high-factor sun cream as well as a broad rimmed hat is advisable, especially if you are unaccustomed to the tropical sun.

HEALTH

In the years we have been sailing in the Mergui Archipelago we have had no Malaria or Dengue fever incidents. On some beaches you may encounter sand flies and a mosquito repellent should be used.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Cuisine consists of a combination of local ( mostly Thai ) and European dishes. Special dietary requirements or preferences, such as vegetarian can be catered for provided advance notice given. Colona II have an ample stock of beer and soft drinks for sale.

CREW

In addition to the captain, we have two additional local crew which have been working on the boat since we started in 1997, one cook and one boat boy.

SAFETY KIT

We have a oxygen set and good supply of first aid kits.
